The Two Artists (A Series of Clippings)
“…Suppose there were two artists and one said, ‘I have travelled much and seen much in the world, but I have sought in vain to find a man worth painting. I have found no face with such perfecting of beauty that I could make up my mind to paint it. In every face I have seen one or another little fault. Therefore I seek in...
About
Hi, I’m Allison’s husband and Callie’s dad. I’ve always lived in small towns aspiring to be a world traveler, and now that I’m learning to love my girls more, I’m experiencing the expanse of a world beyond bounds right here in my tiny home. I hang out around Wilmington, North Carolina but often get out to the Outer Banks and Bath to visit friends and family. I tamper in the digital world of marketing for a media company and work with all kinds of people helping them with their businesses. Otherwise I love good discussions over coffee during the day and strong tea into the evening. I have homemade ice cream, grilled wings and microbrews in the summer and chili, veggy soup, Allison’s chicken casserole, homemade pretzels and Kentucky whiskey during our mild winters. I enjoy God’s good earth and his people as much as I can. Meanwhile I’m learning to write, perhaps not really for everyone, but especially for Callie who gets to create the future.
Here there are things that need a lot of thought and conversation as well as things that I imagine, work I do, the life I’m living, and hopefully plenty to laugh at. I hope for anyone to jump in. I have a couple of topics I’m trying out like “Imagined Occasions” which are made up scenes, stories, or conversations that may be an allegory or metaphor or for just plain fun. I’ll talk a lot about how Allison, Callie and my family impacting my awareness of myself and others, and of course you’ll find my perspective on the world around me. I’ll also keep some of the work I do here, since sometimes it can be hard to explain my job at the family holiday dinner table. I’ll have reviews of music, books and movies and finally, I’ll compile a “weekly favorites” that I encounter. Be entertained, think, and join the conversation!
